Changes for the better ....

Well, the painting I was having a challenge with has moved forward. I'm not sure I'm completely finished, but real close ....

The other work I thought was finished was not.  I darkened the background and the painting just popped.  What say you?

Thanks so much for dropping in!  I know I am waaaaaay behind again in my visits - getting ready for a big charity auction!  Soon --- soon.  Hope all is well.

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.”

Finding this one a challenge

I'm find this painting quite a challenge to transfer what is in my mind on to the canvas. The woman, (obviously part of the Royal Court) is, of course, taking the Royal monkeys for a walk in the Indian country side and will no doubt have tea (dejarling do doubt) with the Raj. Hmmm.....

We will see what happens tomorrow.

Thanks so much for dropping in and for all your wonderful comments.  It boosts my spirits no end and means a lot to me.

“You can be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don't know it, all of that doesn't even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away. It's not like you have forever, so don't waste any of your seconds, don't throw even one of your moments away.”

Finished and almost there ....

Finished one painting today and began working on the detail of another.

Thanks for dropping over.  Beautiful day here - now, in the afternoon.  We could get frost tonight, so I'm a little concerned about my plants!  Take care.

A couple of finished pieces

Finished a couple of pieces yesterday. Let them lie in the sun to dry. They are happy little paintings. So many of you are freezing your butts off! They know
how lucky they are.  :o)

Hope you have a wonderful day.  Thanks for dropping in.

“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'

'Does it hurt?' asked the Rabbit.

'Sometimes,' said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. 'When you are Real you don't mind being hurt.'

'Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,' he asked, 'or bit by bit?'

'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”

Work in Progress

Hi everyone. Just wanted to say a big Thank You to all of you who are putting up with me lolly gagging around and not visiting your blogs! I've been fending off the flu with the immune boosters my naturopath has issued. I must say, they work, I haven't had bronchitis for 3 years now and it is usually a yearly event. This year, however, the flu is a nasty lingering one and my body is exhausted from keeping me 'flu free'. Consequently, my naturopath thought it best to work from home for a week so I can nap whenever I want to! (which seems to be a lot, and it's annoying me). AH! However, I DON'T have the flu to I, so what's to be annoyed about. :o)

I've got quite a few paintings 'in the works' - more to come. Here's four of them for now ...

Another painting from a sketch done at the Bay of Fires in Tasmania during our last reunion in Australia.

Despite my nap times, I seem to be getting quite a lot done.

Thanks for coming over.  Carolyn!  There is ALWAYS a chair here for you.  I can think of nothing better than to open my door and find you standing there.  :o)

A morning at Blairgowrie

In 2004/5 I spent nearly six months with my friends in Australia. We traveled and lived together in Europe and the bond has remained strong for 45 years! YIKES.

At any rate, we were staying at Jenny Wren's (term of endearment). I was sitting on the deck drinking a latte she had made me - Jen was hanging out the cloths. I grabbed my pencil and sketch book. A couple of weeks ago I was looking through that old journal and smiled them I came across the sketch. Too good not to paint, I thought --- here's the

Still makes me smile.  I'll be heading back to Australia late in 2014 as 'the girls' got together and are paying my air fare!  It was my surprise Christmas gift.  How lucky can one girl get. We are not getting any younger - so felt it was time for another reunion.  Can't wait.

The parrot and mate actually live at Blairgowrie.  Jen said there are still a pair of them there.

Thanks for popping by.  Hope this makes you smile as well.  Threat of frost this week here!  Cover plants.  Hot toddy's by the fire.

There is no distance too far between friends, for friendship gives wings to the heart.

I adore flowers. I love having them in my house. They make me happy. Arranging a lovely bouquet is one of my greatest small pleasures.

Somehow I never paint flowers - not much anyway. Decided to try a little bouquet of roses. It's not quite finished. Needs a shot of light on the vase - have to wait until the paint drys. Here's what's
happened so far ...

I think perhaps it also needs a couple of petals at the bottom of the vase.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'll get around to see you soon.  Late afternoon seems to be Sangria time now - sitting in the sun.  It warms up a bit then.  See you there - on the terrace.

Dance to the rhythm of the Universe ....

Well - basically, that's what she's telling me. It's easier, I know. I still find myself trying to control my life, do way to much at once, get stressed and overwhelmed, and suddenly remember - I have no control over anything except myself - so r e l a x and e n j o y. You would think I've have learned that by now, however, I have discovered there IS such a thing as an Artists' Temperament - so I have to have lots of little chats with myself to not get overwhelmed. Still easier said than done.

So ... as my latest Lady tells me, "Donna, it's so much easier to dance to the rhythm of the Universe instead of trying to control it. Agreed. She is so lovely and calm. You will notice the bird is presenting her with the music of the Universe.

Sorry, not such a good photo - sun wiggled it's way into the corner.

Thanks so much for coming by.  It's cold here today, so there will be no sangria served on the terrace.  Apologies of a cold wind.

Listening to the music ....

I miss my 'Wise Women'. One has come to me and I'm busy working on her. She's progressing. She told me the world is much like music. There is a flow and a rhythm which is innate. I believe she is right. If we allow ourselves to be part of that rhythm, life is so much easier. Sounds so easy. :o)

I know I definitely feel so much better when I am in the flow of life and not all rolled up in a ball fighting it every step of the way.  Slowly learning .....

Thanks so much for dropping by.  AND ... thanks for coming even when I haven't been visiting you.  True blogging friends .. so lovely and so much appreciated.
Sangria's on.  :o)
