"Animals and Angels"

I have chosen the theme of "Angels and Animals" for this weekends exhibition at Galeria Izamal in honour of Habibi, my beloved 'pookie' and companion of five years. He passed away young. Odd things happen you know. I was painting the series "Animals and Angels" when Habibi passed away. hmmmmm...

At any rate, the Art Exhibition is this coming Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Galeria Izamal, #80 Mesones, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. All the artists who hang in the galeria will be showing their work. If you are in the area - We would love to see you there. If you are not -- I wish you were.  :o)

Working on ......

Working on .....

I'll bet you didn't know there was a 'red angel' in charge of placing the moon and stars in the sky at dusk.  Big job, so of course she has helpers.  :o)

That's it for today.  Thanks for coming over.  See you soon.  Gotta run.  Getting ready for an art exhibition at the galeria on Saturday evening.  More on that when it hits the paper.

In the Studio .. at work --- ha ha more like 'at fun' ...

A friend of mine, Faith, dropped into the studio today and took a few shots of me at the easel. Have never had any photos of me 'at work' before, so they are  lovely to have.

Just for the sake of posterity, Toller Cranston's Studio, San Miguel de Allende, Gto. Mexico, July 21, 2014.

Hope you are all having a great week.  Beautiful day today, no rain.  Thanks for dropping by.  Take care.

Progress? She's still a mystery.

Still don't know where she is headed. Keeps changing on me. At any rate - here's what has happened.

Nice to see you here - thanks for all your comments and taking the time to visit.  I'm off to paint.  Take care.

In the works ...

I've just begun two more paintings at home -- wanna see? Still a lot of work to be done.

32" X 32"

Don't have a clue where I'm going with this one.  She was a great big surprise.  Not talking either!  They don't seem to talk to me anymore.  hmmmmmm

Thanks for coming over.  Hope you are enjoying your weekend.  It's a beautiful day here - no rain.  Take care.

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.”

New Work Complete

Gone back in my mind to the country I think. I've always loved sheep and roosters and chickens for that matter. See what you think.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hope all is well with you.  Your comments are so very much appreciated.

“How it is that animals understand things I do not know, but it is certain that they do understand. Perhaps there is a language which is not made of words and everything in the world understands it. Perhaps there is a soul hidden in everything and it can always speak, without even making a sound, to another soul.”

In the studio today ....

I've changed the Angel a lot and am not sure if I like her as well. Live and learn ....

The camel and Angel are just about finished - the mouse needs to be scaled down with colour, however I have to wait for the green to dry.  See what you think.  This was a fun painting to do.

It was raining and the light in the studio was not that great - however you get the idea.

Working on new pieces now.  Will post again soon.

Thanks so much for dropping in.  Take care and hope you are having fun.

“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.”

New Day ... 7:00 am San Miguel

I wake up early. About 6:00 am usually. This morning it was 4:00 am -- a little to early for my liking - however, what can one do. Did some computer work. Pulled back the drapes and watched the world alight. A beautiful thing. It had rained most of the night, however about 7:00 am I took my coffee to the upstairs terrace and snapped a few photos.  So beautiful.  So fresh.

A nice way to begin my day.  Painting my head off - have a couple more finished.  Played with the Red Angel and now I'm not sure I like it.  More photos soon.  Thanks for dropping by - always a pleasure.  It's been pretty rainy and cold (HA!  it's 77 degrees at the moment)!  I think my blood has thinned considerably.

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for your lovely comments.  Take care of yourselves.  Life is short and you're so beautiful!

“Let me wake up next to you, have coffee in the morning and wander through the city with your hand in mine, and I'll be happy for the rest of my fucked up little life.”

Absolutely Complete! (I hope)

The more you look at an unfinished painting, the more you see should be done. That's what's happened to "Red Angel" and "Red Wing". I've worked on both of them and am much happier with them now. They are no longer 'shrinking violets'. See
What you think.

I think she would make a lovely Christmas card.

Red Wing - she does not look 'lost' on the horse anymore.

Also finished "Guests at a Royal Wedding", which was soooooo much fun to do.

Are they not a motley lot?

Thanks for dropping by.  It's pretty rainy here - so unfortunately we have to drink our sangria inside.  See you at 5:00 pm.  xo
