There's a Story to This ....

Hello my lovelies.  Great to see your shining faces.

It's been an odd Christmas season.  I find myself back on Vancouver Island.  Somewhere I thought I would never return to.  I fell in love with Mexico many years ago during my travels.  Six years ago I moved to San Miguel and the love affair continued.  It took my heart and held it so gently and with such great love, how could I ever leave?  NEVER.  I built my own home.  Became a successful artist installed permanently in a well known Gallery, held exhibitions, made dear friends, found my tribe. Living my dream.  Life doesn't get much better than this.

Suddenly, unexpectedly, I had health issues I couldn't ignore.  The decision was made for me.  I had absolutely no say in the matter.  Return to Canada where there is a good health care system.
So here I am.  Between and Betwixt.  Waiting for my house to sell in Mexico while trying to settle as much as possible here.  I have NO TOYS with me ... not one piece of paper or a tube of paint.  Going Nuts!  Then I found the dollar store ... I was shocked.  They had some good stuff!!  I could at least play in my journal, which would no doubt give me some creative relief.

So this is the result ... made with my box of dollar store supplies and my Christmas cards.  You have no idea what this has done for me .... ah!  Let off a lot of creative steam.

Allow me to share.  It's been a fun afternoon.  I will enter it for the last day of "Collage" at ART JOURNAL JOURNEY.

I gathered the Christmas cards I received.
... cut the messages out of them and used the decoration to help the collage along.

Then Valerie, I wrote in my journal.  Very therapeutic actually.

Thank you so much for dropping by.  Your comments are always such a treat.  Get ready for 2016, because here she comes!  and remember .... enjoy the moment.

This, That and the other ....

Hello my lovelies.  Hope you had a lovely Christmas.
Survived Christmas!  YEAH!  Ray was my first dinner guest.  Always good luck.  We had Christmas Eve dinner here.  I did my best, with what I had to create a little 'Christmas Spirit'.
Sneaking a look at his phone when he thinks I'm not looking.  :o)

 My little 'decorated' table.

I did receive a few Christmas gifts which was fun.  Some lovely decorations for my tree next year, some big snowflakes (not shown), gorgeous candle holders and new warm socks!

Before Christmas I was frequenting the thrift shops to find the essentials so survive until my own things arrive.  One great find was a cast iron frying pan.  Unfortunately the cast iron rod was still there, however the handle was missing.  Ray to the rescue.  I left it with him for the afternoon and this is what he did for me.  Now it's a very special frying pan.

Don't you just love it??

That's all for today my sweets.  Have a wonderful Boxing Day, whatever you may be doing.  and remember ... Enjoy the moment.

Happy Holidays ...

Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side and his quiet home! ~Charles Dickens, The Pickwick Papers

May you all have a wonderful holiday season, and may 2016 be a kind and peaceful year for all of you.  Thank you so much for visiting my blog over the years.  I have made many friends, for which I am very grateful.  Sending love and best wishes for a wonderful, productive, purposeful, happy life.  xoox

Sort of Moved In ... and a Christmas Present

Hello my Lovelies.  Nice to see you here.
What can I say.  ... I've 'sort of' moved in.  Basics only as renos are not complete.  Living room absolutely filled with Ray's boy toys.  I have my bed, night table, chair and small table for the computer.  That's about it.  We will finish after Christmas.
After hauling all my bits and pieces over here the other night, I found a lovely lamp sitting on my night table.  I had been drooling over it at Ray's shop.  There she sat with a card taped to her.  A lovely Christmas gift from Ray.  Absolutely adore her.  She will eventually look smashing in my living room.  What do you think?

That's all for now.  Trying to get a little bit settled.  Feels quite odd.  Thanks for dropping by.  Enjoy the moment.

Slow but Sure ....

Hello my Lovelies.  It's raining, raining, raining here on Vancouver Island.  Hope you are in a nice dry, warm spot.  lol

The contractor I hired didn't work out well - so he is gone, gone, gone.  Ray, naturally (!), has taken over and is determined to finish the work, much to my objections.  What can one do??!  Today we fixed much of the mess the contractor made, and began to put up the crown molding.  It's beginning to come together, and I hope to be sleeping here by the 15th.  Ray brought all his guy toys over, and progress is being made ...

I've had several requests for a 'clone' of Ray.  I'm certain science will have a breakthrough on that any day now, and as soon as possible I will be sending out copies to whoever needs one.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving your lovely comments.  Enjoy the moment.

Today's Goings On ....

Hello my Lovelies.  Happy to see you here.
More gifts in the form of an oil change for my car and treatment (whatever that is) ... like an extra cream rinse I think.  lol  I am very well looked after as you can tell.
Ray, of course, has all the tools (toys) on hand to do every little thing -- even the work suit.

The house is coming along nicely.  Colours beginning to look great and go wonderfully with the furniture material.  I am a happy girl.

That's it for today.  Thanks so much for dropping by and leaving your great comments.  Enjoy the moment.

Rusty Old Stuff .....

Hello my Lovelies.  It's raining, it's pouring ... it's cold ... had to purchase a coat.  ha ha ... How long does it take to adjust.  ....

At any rate, I am having fun.  Ray knows I like rusty old stuff for the garden, and there has been no lack of gifts coming through the door.  Can't wait to get into the yard.  However, let's keep things in order first and get the inside finished.

Thought you might like to see some of my treasures.  I never know what will arrive next.

I LOVE this piece.  Can't wait to work with it.

 nice shape ....

Old wind holders?  What will they become?

Going to paint them royal blue.

Also going to be spray painted and probably used outside.

More interesting stuff to play with.

That's it for today my sweets.  Take care and enjoy the moment.  Thanks for dropping in.

A Little News from The Island

Hello my Lovelies.  Hope all is well with each of you today.
Making progress.  Yesterday we took my car in for something or other (ha ha) ... so it's back home with me today.  Nice to have some wheels.  Renting a car these days is incredibly expensive.  Oh -- haven't shown you what I'm driving.  Here it is -- ta da .....

Very handy for hauling all sorts of 'stuff' and great to transport paintings.

Had a lovely drive through the country side the other day.  The terrain is very beautiful, however I must say, it's going to take me awhile to adjust to the weather.  Drove out to the organic farm with a view to stocking up on veges which would do us for a couple of months.  Of course, had to have a lovely lunch while we were there to warm up!

When we got home, Ray built a 'cold box' to store the bounty ... so we now have lovely organic produce at our finger tips.  Just like the old days.  I really like it.

Large baking potatoes, smaller potatoes for boiling and mashing, apples and some lovely carrots.

Leeks, garlic, cabbages, beets and squash.  Yum.

Dinner last night consisted of mashed potatoes, beets, cold slaw of cabbage, carrots and onions with a fine dressing and squash.  Delish.
I'm over at my house this morning, the man from Shaw Cable has just arrived.  Hopefully, I will get internet that works.  So frustrating having to go somewhere every time I want to check on something.

We shall see how it works this time.  Hopefully check in tomorrow.  In the meantime take care and enjoy the moment.

Slow but Sure ....

Hello my Lovelies.  So great to see and hear from you.

We've had a couple of lovely days full of sunshine and a 'little' warmth.  Working on the house.  The electrician is coming this week to put some switches and plugs back where they are needed after we demolished the walls.  The plaster is on the walls now - although not in these photos.  Yup!  Getting on with it.

Watching the gulls from a chair in the sun.  The salmon are running up the creek where they will lay their eggs and die.  Ah!  The cycles of life. The gulls are getting hungry.

My new electrician.  Will be doing the wiring this week.

 Making progress.

Ray.  My rock through this episode.

Take care.  Thanks for dropping by and leaving your great comments.  Means a lot to me.  Enjoy the moment.

Enjoying a Little Sun

The sun is actually shining!  Although is it cool, it's very fresh and lovely.  I'm still enjoying the beautiful essence of the pines and slowly adjusting to what will be my new home.

Lots of renos going on at the house -- first coat of primer should go on this week - then I can try samples of the paint I have chosen.  Will keep you up to speed as it happens.

On the weekend, while Ray was working on the roof, I sat in the sun by the pond, enjoying nature and the duckies who were also playing in the sun.  I soaked up all the ambiance I could as there will be more cold and rain to come. Trying to keep myself in the moment.

Got a very sore toe from walking with no socks on.  Dr. Ray fixed - all tied up with a red ribbon.  Had to laugh.

ha ha ... toe feels better already!

Ray working on his studio (building in progress)

I know the ducks don't look real -- but they are!!  So beautiful.

That's it for today my Lovelies.  Still no internet at the house - so it's very inconvenient to try and keep up with everything.  Hopefully, next week Shaw will get their act together.

Take care.  Thanks for dropping by.  Enjoy the moment.
