"And She Wore Flowers in Her Hair"

Good day my lovelies.  Do hope you are having some fun today.  I guess we count our blessings when we have a great day, as in reality some days are definitely difficult.  It's cool in San Miguel today with a little rain.  Still very pleasant.  I'm attempting to decide what clothing to take with me on my trip to Canada.  November on Vancouver Island.  After six years here, I've forgotten what it can be like, so I'm having a bit of a challenge choosing my cloths.  lol  TRYING to take as little as possible ... really .... no!  honestly!  I'm tired of hauling tooooo much stuff.  I'm sure you can relate.

Contracted an infection in my left eye -- actually it's a 'pimple' under the eyelid.  Very strange and very sore.  Saw the eye Dr. today and she's given me medicine and instructions for massage and hot packs.  A little annoying as it's making my site blurry, however I'm hoping to have it cleared up within a week.  Never heard of such a thing .. have you?

The following painting is quite new.  Still drying actually, so I'm sure you have not seen her before.

"And She Wore Flowers in Her Hair", oil on canvas,  24" X 28", gold leaf frame.

That's about it for today.  Be well and enjoy the moment.  Thanks for dropping by.

  1. Love your painting Donn, what a gorgeous lady. You will need to take warm things when you go to Canada, I am sure it will be a few degrees colder over there! Perhaps you can leave some things there so you don't have to carry them back and forth. I had one of those pimples under my eye lid some weeks back, and got a sticky, yellow ointment for it. As you said, it hurts a lot and the ointment gives you blurry vision: Hope it soon clears up for you, you have enough to contend with! Hugs, Valerie

  2. Lovely vintage feel and beautiful blues- love the painting! Travel- I've been looking at some blogs that describe "capsule" wardrobes which are minimal basics with accents. That could work for you traveling as you'll probably benefit from layers. And you may feel the cold & damp more now after having lived in such a warm place. I notice that now when I go north after being in Florida for some years- it's chilly! hope your eye heals quickly- blurry vision cramps your style.

  3. Good morning, Donna. I'm up early to shower and go with a friend to tour the studios of local artists. They open their studios once a year and it is a treat to view and talk with each one. Your LADY is so beautiful and an excellent view to start my day. It gets down to the 50s here at night and warms back up during the day. I leave Saturday for Calif. Ned will b gone ten days. I'm excited to see family and play with the grandson. Have an enjoyable weekend.

  4. Beautiful painting Sugar! I picture you with a big flower in your hair, bangle bracelets, red lip stick and a big smile on your face. I know that Vancouver Island is a magical place to live. Can definitely picture ice skating Nuns and plenty of fresh wild caught salmon. Yum!!

  5. Just looked at this again Sugar - her face is fantastic - I love the way you painted her face.
Hot compresses for your eye is probably the best way to go - ease the discomfort and help with the healing process.
