Mexico City. The ancient Aztec waterways.

In June this year, my dear friend AM (Ann Mary) came and stayed with me for seven weeks.  AM was one of the Park Road Girls.  We lived in London together all those years ago, became family and have always stayed that way.  It was such a treat to have her here- and I missed her terribly when she was gone.  At any rate, the entire time was such a blessing and we had such fun.  We spent some time in Mexico City .. always a treat.  The ancient Aztec Canals are still in existence - so we spent a magical, very relaxing day floating along, enjoying the peace and quiet, buying food from the boat vendors, and of course, allowing Mariachis to board out boat and sing to us.

Vendors on shore - everything you can imagine!

There are homes along the canals.  The boats are rented for celebrations such as birthdays and weddings.  It's a very happy place.

A vendor floating by with beautiful Mexican dolls.  Shopping has never been so easy!

"Happy People".  According to world wide surveys, Mexico is one of the happiest countries in the world.  I will go along with that.

Many of the greenhouses which supply Mexico with it's beautiful roses exist along these canals.

 Food passing by is irresistible...

We swooned over Mexican corn

Mariachis came on board and sang to us.

 Bliss!

Our canal boat.

Suddenly the day was at an end.  An exceptional, magical day.  I could do it again and again and never tire of it.  If you are every in Mexico City - don't miss it.

"Life is made up of small pleasures. Happiness is made up of those tiny successes. The big ones come too infrequently. And if you don't collect all these tiny successes, the big ones don't really mean anything." ~ Norman Lear

  4. I would dearly love to do this with you Donna - look at that corn - I love roasted corn. So much color and it is easy to see why you love Mexico so much.
