Hugs from Vancouver Island

Here I am.  The Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island.  COLD!   .... but beautiful.

Been attempting to get some Medical lined up without too much success.  Will keep trying.  Have already had some lovely drives in the beautiful country, enjoyed the ocean, eaten at beautiful country farm restaurants .. all organic, and enjoyed local wine.  Shopped at the new Farm Market with everything you could imagine including an apothecary full of every imaginable remedy - all natural. Just my speed.

Disembarking from the aircraft, my first impression is the heady smell of the pines.  Can't get enough of that.  Being in the high desert for six years, one forgets the beauty of the forest, the changing colours of the leaves, against the backdrop of the ocean, and green rolling hills.  A different kind of beauty.

Some photos from our latest drive.  Didn't take my camera, and as you can see I'm an amateur at taking photos with the phone.  Not ONE of them I took is in focus ... consider it an arty touch!  lol

You really forget the vastness of it all .. the beauty and the strength.

... and how the sky meets the mountains, the mountains meet the sea, the sea meets the shore and it all blends into such beauty ... just at dusk.

So ... after frolicing in in the woods by the ocean, having a lovely walk through the forest, we had dinner at Alderlea Farms, where they grow all organic, and have a lovely restaurant overlooking the hills.  Could not have been a better, more relaxing afternoon.

Thanks so much for dropping by.  Enjoy the moment.  Over and out from "God's Country"

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, "This is what it is to be happy.”

  2. Vancouver Island is a place we have always wanted to visit.
Your descriptions and photos reinforce that desire Donna.
Everything sounds right up our alley.

  3. Donna, welcome back to your west coast 'home.' It is a bit bone-chilling at the moment. Walked this morning and decided it was almost hat weather (And I hate wearing hats). I do hope you find what you need medical-wise and please let me know if there is anything I can help with. Not sure what that might be but I'm up for anything that might help. Oh, Donna, that shawl you're wearing. It's a beauty. Love the blog and staying in touch.
    Mucho hugs, Edye

  4. Donna---Your site has just come through on my computer/e mail. It is great to read you blog again. I had sent you an e mail shortly after you had quit blogging asking if everything was OK. You may remember because it came under my previous e mail which said from Michigan.gov which made you skeptical it was legit. I'm looking forward to following your further adventures. I've been following you since you were building your house which I read must have been about 5-6 years ago. Best wishes for your health, the move, and holidays. The "comment as" box says unknown and I can't get it to change but, Happy Holidays, hansenh

  5. I just found out you were blogging again and am looking forward to following your adventures. I've been following your blog since you were building your house in Mexico. You may remember that I e mailed you asking how you were after you stopped blogging (you were skeptical of the e mail at first as it came to you under my previous e mail which said @Michigan.gov. Best wishes for your health, the move to Canada, your art and for the coming holidays.

    1. Hi Howard - lovely to hear from you again. I would send an email - however think the one I have is defunct. Thanks for 'following along' and for your concern. Much appreciated. I see you are in google circles, however didn't seem a place I could send you a message. I don't have internet here as yet - so when that happens hopefully I will be blogging more. Take care. Hope all is well with you and your wife.

  8. Incredibly wonderful to see you here again Donna. I've checked up on you every few months and got worried when I couldn't find you. Anyway, I'm so glad you're blogging again and sharing your abundant and inspirational outlook on life. Have fun on Vancouver Island - as I know you will. I've watched you grow and grow and grow over the years and it's been a joy to see. You have inspired me over and over again. Love and hugs, Sue.
