Starting Over ....

Hello my Lovelies.  Still on Vancouver Island .. frozen to the bone.  Culture shock big time.

Today, after a good week of attempting to get things sorted, I am cold, wet and cranky.  I know it's culture shock.  It will take time to adjust again.

In the meantime, until I am skipping through the cold, damp, WET, atmosphere and loving it .... Ray and I have been knocking down walls at my house, making two small rooms into one large bedroom.  Fells much better.  Ray did all the heavy work -- I simply carried all the wood and panels outside and kept things clean underfoot.  As Ray is a MAN,  he didn't bother to turn the electricity off at the breaker.  Sparks, and the noise which accompanies them, flew helter skelter, while I covered by ears, eyes and screamed a little.  SHEESH!  Having the walls plastered and primed ready for paint.

Internet is hooked up so I feel connected again.  Miss my vonage phone.  Will have to wait for that.  In the meantime, here are a few photos of the renos.  Only just begun .... lol

Last piece of wall coming down - 2 hours of hard, fast paced work!

Time to celebrate!

That's it for today.  Thanks so much for dropping by.  Enjoy the moment.

  1. Glad you are making headway with your house, and that you are 'connected' again. Ray has worked hard, good that he is there to help you and even make fireworks for you! Hope you soon get used to the cold again! Take things easy, Sweetie, hugs, Valerie

  2. Way to go, Ray! You'll be up and running in no time. Keep plugging away at your task list.

  3. That's our Donna, already changing and making her new home "Donna style". It is cold here too with snow on the foothills, along with the change of time which always throws me off for a couple of weeks. Bundle up and take care of yourself.

  4. WOW, you're here and already making things happen! Welcome to the Island, Donna. The weather has been a little off lately but it will get better :)
    Hugs, Yvonne

  5. Hi Donna, glad you are moving forward. I do know what you mean..... all my friends in SoCal and always posting their sunny pics of the beach, etc..... mixed feelings right now but remembering how much I reveled in the beauty for the 1st 8 months here. We can do this! It will get better! It's a long, tough, wet weekend but I do see some sun in store for tomorrow at least. Hang in there!!

  6. I think Vancouver is absolutely beautiful but I must admit those pine treed would drive my sinuses crazy. But would love all that fresh salmon!!! When it is cold, cuddle up with hot tea, good stew, a good book and arts and crafts!
