Winter in Hawaii

Good Day my Lovelies.  The SUN is actually shining here.  I'm tempted to acquire a lawn chair, put my parka on, and sit under it for awhile.

This month is "Winter Wonderland" at Art Journal Journey.  I will be linking this page there.

I'm finding it quite a fun challenge to work with limited supplies.  At home I have everything under the sun and more.  Here, I really have to rack my brains to come up with something.

We have, in the past, spent Christmas and or winters in Hawaii.  I have many happy memories ... like decorating pineapples instead of trees.

Again, with my $ store supplies and a broken snowflake I received in the mail, I constructed this.  Oh, by the way, the image of the hula dancer is from a Hawaiian magazine I found at the dump's "Free Store".  ... makes me laugh.  After working on this second piece, I totally understand why the paints have 'no name'!  I'm sure not a soul on earth would want to identify themselves with this quality.  :o)

This being my hand made journal, the pages you see in the middle are 'short' pages.  Therefore you can see part of the page underneath on each side.  Clear as mud, right?

I'm growing very fond of the crooked horizon line.  HA!

Well, my loves, that's it for today.  My adventures with my $ store products will continue I'm sure.  Thank you so much for dropping by.  LOVE all your comments.  It's a honour to have you here.  Hope you had a wonderful New Year's Day and started the year off right.  Enjoy the moment.

“We are all wonderful, beautiful wrecks. That's what connects us--that we're all broken, all beautifully imperfect.”

~ Emilio Estevez

  1. Another wonderful journal page from you today, and I LOVE the idea of spending winter in Hawaii, and decorating pineapple trees, oh my! Glad you are keeping yourself occupied with your $ store stash, even if it is not as good as you would like - you have managed to make a wonderful journal page even with those limitations. Thanks for joining us at Art Journal Journey again Sweetie, BIG hugs, Valerie

  8. Your beautiful broken wrecks quote reminds me of my favorite Leonard Cohen quote: ... there is a crack in everything that's how the light gets in ...
Lovely winter wonderland pages making do with what you had on hand too!
Hawaii must be a magical place in every season.
