"The Guardian" ...

Good day my Lovelies.  Nice to see you.

When I was ten years old, I spent a very long time in the hospital.  It was a catholic hospital.  Not being catholic myself, and of course being a child, I was ever so fascinated by the nuns habits.  They seemed to literally float on air.  As winter came, I could look out my window in the evening and see them on the ice rink - skating to music - laughing, falling, learning and enjoying themselves very much.  My skating the skiing nuns became a series from that experience.

After that, I became very interested in the habits they wore during medieval times, when the material used was burlap.  Two paintings appeared from this research.  "The Guardian" is one of them.  I'm linking this to Art Journal Journey, where the theme is "If you go down to the woods."  It is evening.  The nun is on her way home through the woods, when the light goes out in her lantern.

Can't wait to get my studio set up.  I am learning patience.  :o)

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day and enjoy the moment.

  1. This is wonderful Donna. I always love your nuns, and we sooooo need Guardians to watch over us, today more than ever when so much wickedness is alive in the world, and evil people are trying to blot out our civilization. Have a great day, BIG hugs, and thanks for joining us at AJJ, Valerie
